The Final Countdown

So for those in the know, I'm getting laid off this month. There it is. That's that then. Given I'm about to have some free time on my hands, I thought 'job smjob, I'm getting outta here'. So on a complete whim, I booked to go away for 5 weeks. I know, I know, how could I leave you all for so long, but if you just concentrate on sorting my crimbo pressies, the time will fly by!

I'll be jetting off to Asia in less than 3 weeks, joining two Intrepid Travel tours along the way.

First on the agenda is Indochina Discovery. Leaving here on the 18th November, I've accepted the challenge of trying to keep myself entertained in one spot for 16 hours before arriving in Hanoi. For the next 22 days, I'll be travelling down through Vietnam, across Cambodia and finishing in Bangkok (where hopefully i wouldn't need snorkelling gear to get about!).

From there, I'll be flying to Indonesia, to join the next tour, Beautiful Bali

Then I'll be flying home via Singapore, as you do, and staying there for a couple of nights before making the final flight back home again (well second to last flight technically, but whatever).

Along the way I'll be sleeping on boats, cycling, climbing volcanos, snorkelling, dolphin watching, visiting 5 World Heritage Sites blah blah blah. Now, I know some of you (Steve) think I shouldn't be allowed on a bike anymore, but I'm fairly sure I've got the hang of it now.

I'm hoping I'll have plenty of opportunity to keep you all up to date on my antics on this blog (get me). So for those interested in me (and who wouldn't) subscribe..at once. Can you do that? I don't know. Just follow me somehow. And leave amusing comments, that kinda stuff.

Also, while I'm away, could someone please make sure Steve doesn't get scurvy or something. And remind him that the bins go out on Tuesdays so I don't come home to one overflowing with pizza boxes.

And someone get me job.

It's all Me Me Me!!
Some things never change!
Just remember that there are now 7 billion people on the planet, and the majority of them live in the direction your heading! There won't be room to cycle, you'll end up pushing the bike through the crowds most of the time!

Have fun, take care and make sure you fully experience the culture (i.e. deep fried locusts on a stick, tandoori dog, Squid ink soup).

This is the best thing I've ever read and even better because there are pictures. I also love the comments... "Can't wait for the updates already! xx" hahaha good one Billingsley. You should go for a walk in Nha trang as they've never seen a white person and they might think you're David Beckham.

I did a wee in the sea at Halong Bay.

Brilliant, so now i can't go swimming in Ha Long Bay. I've been putting the time in and nailed some pretty spectacular dives that I was planning on doing off the boat in an attempt to impress my soon to be new best friends. Any other parts of my trip you may have contaminated in the past Beefy??

Kurt, to be honest, with the number of punctures I get, I'm pretty use to pushing bikes now.

Was expecting some pre-amble before leaving, a bit of build up would have been nice!
